About the Role
Cometstar Manufacturing Company Limited, a proud member of the Cometstar Group and a leader in the Nigerian manufacturing sector, is seeking to recruit a highly skilled, technically competent, and safety-conscious Gas Generator O&M Technician / Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily operation, routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repair of our gas-powered generators (CNG, LPG) and associated electrical equipment. Your expertise will ensure a continuous, efficient, and safe power supply for our plant and facilities while minimizing downtime and strictly adhering to environmental and safety compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure uninterrupted power supply to the plant and smooth operation of substations, gas generators, HFO sets, and their auxiliaries.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical malfunctions and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, emergency repairs, and equipment overhauling.
- Operate and maintain gas generator sets, fuel and lube oil separators, heat exchangers, cooling towers, transformers, electric motors, and HT/LT panels.
- Monitor the usage and inventory of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance supplies while keeping accurate records of equipment performance.
- Ensure gas leak detection systems and fire suppression equipment in the generator house remain fully operational at all times.
- Promote a strong culture of Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety (HSE), supporting the implementation of the Integrated Management System.
- OND, HND, B.Tech, or B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related technical discipline, or relevant trade certificate.
- Certified Generator Technician with OEM training considered a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant hands-on experience working in a power plant and gas production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of gas generators, HFO generator sets, HT/LT panels, SCADA, and power generation systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs.
- Comprehensive understanding of HSE regulations, environmental emission standards, and safety procedures.
