About the Role
WTS Energy is looking for a dedicated Category Specialist – Drilling, Completions & Subsurface (DCS) to join our operations in Lagos, Nigeria. In this vital role, you will drive category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier negotiations for upstream oil and gas projects, bridging technical engineering requirements with robust supply chain practices.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the comprehensive DCS procurement category encompassing equipment, specialized services, and operational consumables.
- Develop and execute targeted category strategies, sourcing plans, and supplier segmentation for upstream activities.
- Combine technical subsurface, petroleum, or drilling engineering knowledge with commercial evaluations to optimize supplier selection.
- Lead complex tendering processes, contract negotiations, and ongoing supplier performance management to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Drive cost engineering initiatives and should-cost analyses to maximize total cost of ownership.
- Guarantee full compliance with industry standards, regulatory reporting mandates, and Nigerian Content (NOGICD) regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or subsurface discipline such as Petroleum Engineering, Drilling, Subsea/Mechanical Engineering, or Geoscience.
- Minimum of 3 years of upstream oil and gas experience focusing on drilling, completions, or subsurface operations.
- Strong proficiency in industry standards, regulatory requirements, and cost engineering methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP procurement systems like SAP or Oracle, alongside postgraduate qualifications or CIPS/APICS certifications, is highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of local and international supplier landscapes and NOGICD compliance.
