About the Role
The Edo State Government is seeking a dependable and skilled Heavy Lorry Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. Based in Benin City, you will play a crucial part in transporting heavy materials, supporting state projects, and ensuring the smooth movement of goods across Edo State and neighboring regions. We pride ourselves on maintaining high standards of road safety, vehicle maintenance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy lorries and transport heavy-duty materials safely and efficiently across designated routes in Nigeria.
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, checking oil, water, tire pressure, and brakes.
- Adhere strictly to all Nigerian traffic laws, road safety regulations, and government transport policies.
- Maintain accurate logs of daily trips, fuel consumption, and cargo deliveries.
- Report any mechanical faults, accidents, or delays immediately to the transport supervisor.
- Ensure that all hauled goods are properly secured and loaded in compliance with safety standards.
- Possession of a First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) as a baseline educational requirement.
- Must possess a valid and current Class 'C' Driving License.
- A minimum of two (2) years of satisfactory post-qualification driving experience operating heavy commercial vehicles.
- Good knowledge of major road networks across Edo State and the surrounding regions.
- Demonstrated record of safe driving with no major traffic violations.
