About the Role
Cobranet Limited, a leading and reliable Internet Service Provider in Nigeria established in 2003, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Fiber Optics Engineer to join our growing technical team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality internet solutions by ensuring the seamless installation, testing, and maintenance of our advanced fiber optic infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for customer premise installations, including racking, cabling, bonding, and grounding.
- Coordinate fiber activities with other departments and the Manager of OSP construction.
- Perform ring cuts on live fiber without affecting existing services and conduct precise fiber tests using OTDRs, light sources, and power meters.
- Terminate, splice, bond, ground, and test fiber optic equipment according to division standards.
- Provide accurate equipment location, splicing, and terminating records for the fiber database.
- Assist Construction and Engineering departments in accepting and turning up the fiber network.
- Monitor, communicate, and perform corrective actions to resolve problems affecting any fiber or fiber-related equipment.
- Work flexible schedules, including normal duty, on-call duty, night shifts, and overtime when necessary.
- B.Sc or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of technical experience in a telecommunications or network operations environment.
- Proficiency in modern fiber splicing techniques and the use of specialized tools such as OTDR, cleavers, strippers, and digital multimeters.
- Knowledgeable in Cisco switching and routing configuration and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of multi-vendor telecommunication equipment operation.
- Independent problem solver with strong team orientation and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
