About the Role
Synapse Services, Nigeria's premier Center for Psychological Medicine, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join our dynamic clinical care team. In this vital role, you will work under the guidance of qualified nurses to deliver safe, empathetic care, helping patients navigate their mental health recovery journey in a supportive and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support nurses and clinicians on duty with daily ward routines and therapeutic programs.
- Welcome new patients and facilitate a warm, friendly environment to help them acclimatize.
- Ensure constant patient safety and maintain secure living environments both on-site and during external activities.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
- Engage with and support patients during recreational and therapeutic activities.
- Assist in de-escalating tense situations and safely restraining aggressive or violent patients when necessary.
- Supervise scheduled cleaning routines and maintain high standards of facility hygiene across all shifts.
- Complete observation charts, handover checklists, and administrative logs meticulously.
- Report facility damages promptly and oversee basic maintenance and energy conservation protocols.
- Minimum of an SSCE or OND qualification.
- Prior working experience in a mental health or general healthcare facility is a strong advantage.
