About the Role
Fina Trust Microfinance Bank is one of Nigeria's foremost microfinance institutions, renowned for empowering retail and small-to-medium scale enterprises with innovative financial solutions. As we continue our rapid expansion and leverage cutting-edge banking technology, we are looking for a dynamic and driven Legal Officer to join our high-performing corporate team. In this role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding the bank's legal interests, ensuring regulatory compliance, and facilitating seamless corporate governance.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Board and Board Committee meeting notices, agendas, minutes, and resolutions.
- Draft, review, and vet contracts, agreements, mortgage documents, and other legal instruments.
- Manage statutory filings and regulatory submissions to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with the Nigerian Police Force, EFCC, and other law enforcement agencies on matters involving the bank, including following up on petitions and investigations.
- Assist in managing litigation matters and coordinate effectively with external solicitors regarding court proceedings and case updates.
- Maintain statutory registers, corporate records, and other essential company secretarial documents accurately.
- Possess an LL.B. degree and a qualifying certificate from the Nigerian Law School (must be called to the Nigerian Bar).
- Demonstrate 1-3 years of post-call experience in active legal practice, preferably within a financial institution or a reputable corporate legal department.
- Possess hands-on experience in company secretarial practice, litigation support, and meticulous contract review.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of corporate and commercial law, coupled with excellent legal drafting skills.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational, communication, interpersonal, and record-keeping abilities with strong attention to detail.
