About the Role
International Energy Insurance Plc is Nigeria’s first Energy-focused Insurance Company, recognized as an expert in delivering first-class underwriting solutions for offshore and onshore risks, as well as general insurance businesses. We are currently looking for a visionary Head, Technical to direct our technical operations, maintain underwriting discipline, and strengthen our market leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the development, review, and implementation of underwriting policies, guidelines, and risk appetite parameters across energy and general insurance portfolios.
- Manage end-to-end claims operations to ensure prompt, fair assessment and settlement while controlling claims leakage and protecting company interests.
- Provide strategic oversight of reinsurance arrangements, including treaty and facultative placements, capacity utilization, and reinsurer relationships.
- Ensure full technical compliance with NAICOM requirements, relevant insurance laws, and internal control standards.
- Collaborate with Actuarial and Business Development teams to balance profitable business growth with prudent risk selection and pricing adequacy.
- Lead, coach, and develop members of the technical team, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
- A relevant professional qualification such as ACII, CIIN or an equivalent recognized insurance qualification is mandatory.
- Extensive senior-level experience in insurance technical operations, covering both underwriting and claims management within the Nigerian market.
- Strong command of NAICOM regulations, energy insurance products, reinsurance structures, and risk assessment principles.
