About the Role
Promasidor, a pioneer in bringing affordable, high-quality nutrition to millions across Africa through iconic brands like Cowbell, is seeking multiple dynamic Group R&D Specialists across Beverages, Culinary, Dairy, and Extrusions. Reporting to the Group Head, R&D, you will lead the end-to-end innovation agenda, transforming consumer insights into market-leading products from concept to commercial launch while serving as the technical authority across our operating markets.
Key Responsibilities- Define and execute multi-year R&D strategies aligned with brand and commercial priorities for your assigned category.
- Lead end-to-end New Product Development (NPD), managing formulation, pilot trials, factory scale-up, and sensory validation.
- Ensure strict compliance with regulatory and food safety standards across all operating markets, partnering with quality and regulatory teams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Operations to drive seamless product launches and value-engineering projects.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, source alternative ingredients, and build strong partnerships with external suppliers and co-manufacturers.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and direction to regional R&D team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Nutrition, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 8 to 10 years of progressive R&D experience within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, with deep specialization in your category of choice.
- Demonstrated expertise in flavor development, formulation, and stage-gate project management methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex cross-functional projects across multiple geographies.
