About the Role
Penafort Energy Limited is an indigenous Nigerian company operating in the downstream oil and gas and food and beverage industries. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to oversee the financial operations of our drinks and retail subsidiary. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in retail or supermarket accounting to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate financial records for all supermarket and retail transactions.
- Reconcile daily sales, cash collections, POS transactions, and other payment channels.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory records, stock movements, purchases, and stock adjustments.
- Reconcile supplier invoices, payment records, and outstanding balances.
- Monitor daily revenue, operational expenses, and cash flow.
- Prepare comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Monitor the cost of goods sold, gross profit margins, and overall sales performance.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies in sales, cash collections, and inventory records.
- Ensure proper documentation and authorization for all financial transactions.
- Assist with budgeting, expense control, and financial planning while maintaining strict compliance with internal controls.
- Bachelor Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven accounting experience, specifically within a supermarket or retail business environment.
- Practical knowledge of supermarket sales reconciliation, inventory accounting, stock valuation, and supplier account management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant accounting software.
- ICAN or ACCA certification/membership in view will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with impeccable attention to detail.
